Fabergé Velvet Blazer by Balmain Fall 2012 RTW

As luxurious as this Balmain velvet blazer is, embroidered with crystals and pearls like a Fabergé egg, it's still lax enough to be wearable. Fall 2012 RTW, Olivier Rousteing's second collection at the house, was full of these over the top hand-embroidered embellished pieces for which Balmain is known, but people noticed how the runway styling gave the pieces an effortless edge. Models wore crewneck sweaters with embroidered-velvet pants and embellished jackets with a classic blouse and pair of trousers to offset the hyper-aestheticized designs. The oversized boxy cut of this jacket is a trend that's still on the runways of Celine, Balenciaga and other designers the past few seasons. With the cooler months ahead of us, it would be perfect for a night out or a holiday party, and from a collection that's still so collectible, you'd have the piece for years to come.
