Iman, Elizabeth Taylor and Divine are icons who have worn his pieces and made them as collectible as they are today. The geisha dress with kimono sleeves is the more dramatic option while the knee-length one feels chill. From Raf Simons’ debut collection at Christian Dior, the couture show famous for over a million flowers lining the salon walls, these shoes are a good (albeit small) example of his work at Dior. The virgule, or comma, was first designed by Dior’s Roger Vivier in 1963 to push away from the stiletto, and Simons made its curved silhouette his own by sharpening the lines and making them black to match his sleek and modern aesthetic.
