There seems to always be some kind of hype around Balmain... When this tank came out in 2011, there was a bunch of controversy surrounding the flag depicted with burn holes and tears. It's a Christophe Decarnin design from his last collection at Balmain. Despite the not-so modest price tag of $1,515, the tank quickly sold out and eventually other stores were replicating the design and concept to jump on the bandwagon. From Raf Simons’ debut collection at Christian Dior, the couture show famous for over a million flowers lining the salon walls, these shoes are a good (albeit small) example of his work at Dior. The virgule, or comma, was first designed by Dior’s Roger Vivier in 1963 to push away from the stiletto, and Simons made its curved silhouette his own by sharpening the lines and making them black to match his sleek and modern aesthetic.
